Description The USMC Crucible is the 54-hour-long final test of Marine Corps recruit training, designed to challenge recruits physically and mentally to earn the title of Marine. It is a physically and mentally grueling event that includes sleep deprivation, minimal food, and over 40 miles of marching and hiking. Recruits must apply the teamwork and endurance skills they learned throughout training to complete a series of problem-solving and combat exercises before being awarded the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor emblem. Duration: A 54-hour-long event. Physical and mental challenges: Recruits face intense physical exertion with little sleep and minimal food, often only having access to limited Meals, Ready-to-Eat (MREs). Training application: It requires recruits to apply the skills they have learned in teamwork, endurance, and combat during a series of exercises and a final, long hike. Stress and simulated combat: The event is designed to simulate combat conditions and high-stress environments to test a recruit’s ability to respond under pressure. Shared hardship: The event fosters a sense of bonding among recruits through shared hardship and tests their ability to work together as a team. Culminating event: The Crucible ends with the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor ceremony, where recruits officially become United States Marines after receiving the emblem that symbolizes their accomplishment. Struck in an antique finish with 3D UV Print color highlights symbolizing the fires of a forge, this coin commemorates the accomplishment of the Marine forged in the Crucible who earns their EGA, which also decorates the reverse, with the text “EARNED, NEVER GIVEN.” This coin measures 1.75 in (44mm) in diameter.
